Friends of William Hogarth School
The Friends of The William Hogarth School is the parent/teacher association for the school. It is a group of parents and other supporters of the school who work in partnership with the staff for the benefit of the children.
The main aims of the Friends are:-
- to strengthen the educational partnership between school and home
- to raise funds – to enable the school to provide new or additional equipment and improve the school’s physical environment
- to strengthen links with the community in the local area
The Friends has a committee which meets regularly to plan events and agree spending. The committee is made up of parent representatives from each class together with staff members. Any parent may join the meetings or ask their class representative to put forward an item for discussion. New ideas are always welcome!
The Friends organise a range of social and fund-raising events throughout the year, as well as supporting the school through our ‘parents in partnership’ activities. Funds we have raised in the last few years have paid for a climbing wall, a large wooden play structure in the front playground, and a new learning and play environment in the back playground.
We hold two annual fairs. The Christmas Fair is always offers great festive fun with gift stalls, mulled wine, carols and, of course, Santa’s grotto.
Our biggest fund-raising event is the Summer Fair, held on a Saturday usually in June. This is a family and community event, with traditional fairground rides, bouncy castle, barbecue, face-painting, games like ‘hook the duck’ and this year thanks to Party Spirit Photo Booth, and their playful and colourful themed props, we will have a photo booth to capture memories and fun of the day.
