Supporting pupils with English as an Additional Language
The William Hogarth School is committed to providing the best possible education for our pupils who speak English as additional language (EAL). Our Leader of Inclusion co-ordinates high quality provision, use of visuals, high quality resources and targeted materials for pupils in our school.
Our pupils speak a wide range of languages and this is something which is nurtured and celebrated. We encourage parents and carers to become actively involved in the process of their child(ren) learning English. With this in mind, we welcome opportunities to meet with parents. We host regular EAL coffee mornings and school events which are valued by our families.
Our Inclusion Leader works alongside class teachers to ensure a smooth transition for EAL pupils into school life at The William Hogarth School. The inclusion team works closely with each child to monitor individual needs and ensure that they are able to access the school curriculum. All members of school staff are committed to providing ongoing support to our EAL pupils.
