Year 6 Take Off with the Heathrow Young Explorers Workshop

Our recent visit from the Heathrow Young Explorers Workshop was an exciting and hands-on adventure into the world of airport innovation! The workshop was buzzing with energy as we teamed up to design and build 3D models of transport systems that could make Heathrow Airport more efficient and eco-friendlier.

We learned fascinating facts about the many different roles at the airport — from air traffic control to engineering — and just how important each job is in keeping everything running smoothly. With the help of enthusiastic volunteers, we collaborated in teams to create designs that were not only imaginative but also sustainable and practical.

It was a fantastic day full of creativity, teamwork, and real-world problem solving — an experience that truly broadened our understanding of how airports work and inspired us to think like future innovators.

It was an extremely fun and interactive workshop. It was cool to meet people who worked at London Heathrow and create new technology that would improve the airport.
